Ghost Town Page 13
Amos opened it up, it was a note from Ritchie and a cheque for £2000 pounds.
My dear friend Amos
I hope you all had a good safe journey home and that you enjoyed your time here in America. I had a visitor last week a certain solicitor from San Francisco it was reference to the documents that were in the safe which belonged to the people of Dethrock, as my family were the descendants of William and Anna Dalton we were entitled to their gold claims dated from 1850. A large amount of money has been returned to us for my grandfathers and grandmothers share from the Dethrock gold. Blood money you may say but money all the same.
Please accept this small amount for your own use. When you decide to use it think of my grandmother.
Your dear friend Ritchie Dalton
Elber grabbed hold of Edie and Amos and hugged them, come on you two I think we should go to the Kings Arms we deserve a drink.
One month later Amos had spent some of the money on a local business that he had always wanted, Edie was his secretary and Elber was his partner.
Bob Jones the local sign writer came into the office.
‘It’s finished Mr Spencer if you would like to come and take a look,’ said Bob.
They all filed outside to look at the sign it read.
“Spencer and Trent Ghost Hunters & Paranormal Investigators”
‘Well what do you think Elber?’ said Amos.
‘It’s wonderful Amos our very own business.’ he said.
As they stood admiring the sign somebody walked into the office.
‘Amos!’ said Edie.
‘Yes!’
‘I think our first customer as just walked in.’ she said.
Amos put his arms round them both.
‘Well let’s get to work then!’ he said.
